Home Affairs finds fraud and identity theft in Chidimma's Citizenship

On the ongoing investigation of Chidimma Adetshina's South African Citizenship, Department of Home found that prima facie reasons exist to believe that fraud and identity theft may have been committed for Chidimma Adetshina to occur her South African Citizenship but these alleged unlawful activities were committed by her mother as she was still a child in 2001.

The Department of Home Affairs provided Public Update on 07 August 2024 as they promised after meeting up with Minister of Sport, Arts and culture, Gayton Mckenzie and his team on 07 August 2024.

The investigation was requested by Miss South Africa Pageant organizers to the Department of Home Affairs on 05 August 2024 to verify the Citizenship of a contestant, Chidimma Adetshina. The request from Miss SA organizers was accompanied by written consent from both Chidimma Adetshina and her mother, the Department of Home Affairs says they included factors below to verify the information.

  • Visits to Hospitals
  • Sites Visits

From the information that the Department of Home Affairs uncovered thus far, they can indicate that.

  • Prima facie reasons exist to believe that fraud and identity theft may have been committed by the person recorded in Home Affairs as Chidimma Adetshina's mother.
  • Chidimma Adetshina could not have participated in the alleged unlawful actions of her mother, as she was was an infant at the time when the activities took place in 2001.

The Department of Home Affairs says that they will provide a final update once the investigation is concluded.
